to go to the main site containing all of the stock metadata reports.

While you're there, you can also use the direct one-click links to some of the most popular sources of stock market news, information and data from sites like Google, Yahoo!, MSN Money, WSJ's MarketWatch, Bloomberg, etc. for this company.

This site has no advertising and no affiliate marketing programs whatsoever. No stock market recommendations are made nor opinions offered. It was built strictly to present stock market related information.

Let's get started. Metadata is data about data. We can examine some of what is available from simply looking at two of the available metadata reports found there as PDFs for the AMR Corporation.

First, click on the Daily Historical Metadata Summary report screen shown below. Here you’ll see metadata analysis results for the AMR Corporation showing stock price ranges and relationships for a defined time frame that indicate how shares of this company have been trading.

You can then use these types of statistics to know what to expect and not expect to happen with the stock price during the day, a sort of best-case or worst-case scenario.

The 15-minute Hi-Low Counts report shown below for the AMR Corporation can be equally informative. Statistically speaking when analyzing stock information over a specific date range, if you want to know the 15-minute period when shares trade at their highest price or lowest price, or the 15-minute period when the highest or lowest number of shares are traded, this report provides those answers.

If you choose to create your own version of these reports, links to detailed descriptions of each of them can also be found on the
Bulls with Bears page.

Although the stock metadata presented for the AMR Corporation is 100% accurate , the actual stock prices and number of shares traded in the metadata reports for the AMR Corporation have been altered slightly to maintain the focus on the metadata.

Here’s some trivia not related to the AMR Corporation that you might find interesting.

Click here to read the news about details about the Stock-Market-Keywords site being ranked #1 on all the major search sites shortly after going live this year in September.

Click here to read a price prediction that I posted to the Yahoo! message board for Morgan Stanley. report. This report contains historical stock market metadata, also simply known as stock metadata, on companies featured on the Bulls with Bears page.

Also included are strategies and tips on using stock market metadata and stock metadata to improve your investing and trading skills.

<col width="400" />

Note regarding share prices and volume of shares traded:

In this report, the prices (Open, High, Low and Close) and volume of shares traded will not match the actual values reported by the markets.

The reason for showing a slight variance from the actual Price and Volume numbers in the Historical Metadata Detail report was to keep the main focus in all of the reports strictly on the metadata.

The numbers you see for Price and Volume were generated from seed values. These were inserted into the Close price and Volume fields for the final day of this report and then combined with the metadata values to create this report.

All metadata values are 100% accurate. So if the correct final Close price and Volume numbers are used as starting seeds, all pricing and volume numbers shown will be 100% accurate.

Description of Report Columns

<col width="50" /> report, one of the simplest and yet very meaningful stock market metadata reports on companies whose stocks are featured on the Bulls with Bears page.

Discover how this type of stock metadata reporting can be used to help find the best times to execute a trade.

<col width="400"></col>

Note regarding what you will see in this report:

This sample metadata report uses the Show 15-Minute Metadata file as source. All screen images that follow reflect metadata results for the period starting April 25 2007 and ending Aug 14 2009, a total of 583 trading days.

In this report there are two main groups of metadata information, one on prices and the other on number of shares traded. Each group is then divided into the following four sub-groups: Highest, 2nd Highest, 2nd Lowest and Lowest.

And within each of those sub-groups, information is sorted in descending sequence by number of occurrences during those 15-minute time periods. For each of the 15-minute time periods, the number of occurrences is also shown as a percentage of the total number of occurrences.

Time Periods When Highest and Lowest Prices Reached, the first group, shows the 15-minute time-of-day periods when the stock price is at its highest, 2nd highest, 2nd lowest and lowest.
For this sample Show 15-Minute Hi-Low Counts report, each of the column totals for this group is actually greater than 583 which is the number of trading days covered by this report.

This is accurate because one some trading days it’s possible for the same prices (the highest, the 2nd highest, the 2nd lowest and/or the lowest) to be reached again during another 15-minute trading period for the day.

The other group shows the 15-minute time-of-day periods when the volume-of-shares traded was at its highest, 2nd highest, 2nd lowest and lowest.

The sample Show 15-Minute Hi-Low Counts report reflects 583 trading days. So when looking at
Time Periods when Highest and Lowest Trading Volumes Reached group, it also shows a value of 583.

This is accurate because although it may be possible, it’s highly unlikely the volume of shares traded during one 15-minute period can be exactly the same in a different 15-minute period of the same day.

On its own, this report is a good indicator of when to statistically expect the high and low prices to occur as well as when to statistically expect the highest and lowest volume of shares to be traded.

Furthermore, when combined with other types of metadata results, it becomes a little easier to spot trading trends for shares of the company.

Description of Report – Show 15-Minute Metadata Detail

The purpose of this page is to describe the contents of each column from the Show 15-Minute Metadata detail report. This is a report that contains daily historical stock metadata divided into 15-minute segments for companies featured on the Bulls with Bears page.

You’ll also find a section devoted to the topic of how market-timing strategies can be used, the results of which are displayed in the report.

Click Here for an explanation of Simple Strategies with examples on how to use stock market metadata found in the Show 15-Minute Metadata Detail report to improve your investing and trading skills.

<col width="400" />

Note regarding share prices and volume of shares traded:

All prices (Open, High, Low and Close) and volume of shares traded will not match the actual values reported by the markets.

The reason for showing a slight variance from the actual Price and Volume numbers in the Show 15-Minute Metadata report was to keep the main focus in all of the reports strictly on the metadata.

The numbers you see for Price and Volume were generated from seed values. These were inserted into the Close price and Volume fields for the last 15-minute period of the final day for this report and then combined with the metadata values to create this report.

All metadata values are 100% accurate. So if the correct final Close price and Volume numbers are used as starting seeds, all pricing and volume numbers shown should match the corresponding stock quote values found at the major online market information reporting sites.

.

Description of Report Columns

<col width="50" /> But you never hear exactly how they do it.

You look around for clues but you never seem to see any examples of how it can be done. You want to get your money working for you but you don’t really know where to start. For the lack of better terms, you want the right strategy to follow.

Many stock market players constantly try to time their trades and make the most money possible from their transactions. The use of metadata can be a valuable tool to help achieve that goal.

The following screen shots extracted from the Show 15-Minute Metadata report will be used to explain two of the strategies that use metadata. The idea is to take many smaller profits during the day as opposed to that large profit that rarely happens.

Click Here to learn to use the strategy for a long (buy) position.

Click Here for to learn to use the strategy for a short (sell short) position.

This type of strategy works best with stocks whose prices often fluctuate up and down by at least a certain amount during the day. Just how much money can be made in a day depends on the following factors:

Share price

Funds available for investing or trading

Amount of commissions paid to execute the trade

Number of times trades are executed during the day, and

Number of times the strategy can be used during the day.

Using this strategy, one can take either a long position in a stock, a short position in a stock, or even both long and short positions in a stock. As with all stock transactions, there is risk involved. Fortunately, risk mitigation is one of the techniques used as part of this strategy.

Here’s how the strategy works when taking a long position. For this example, that will mean buying 1000 shares of company X. Risk is controlled when shares are only bought when the low price (PL) goes lower than the lowest price of the previous 15-minute period (PPL).

Look at the Low column in the screen image below. You’ll notice that at $22.63, the PL is lower than the lowest price of the previous 15-minute PPL ($22.70).

So if the shares were purchased anywhere from $22.63 to $22.69, they could be sold in the current 15-minute period at any price up to the current Highest (CH) price of 22.90 for the current 15-minute period.

If trades are executed online and the commission charges are $10 per transaction, the AMC (Amount Meeting Criteria) value shows a potential profit that can be as much as $250.

Referring to the screen image below, the formula used to calculate the potential outcome (profit or loss) for this trade is:

<col width="100" /> <col width="300" />

If PL < PPL, then

AMC = (CH-PL) * (number of shares) - (commissions paid), or

If $22.63 < $22.70, then

$250 = ($0.27 * 1000) – ($10 +$10), or

$250 = ($270) – ($20), or

$250 = $250

Click Here for field content descriptions of all columns in the Long Position section of the Show 15-Minute Metadata report.

Now here’s how the strategy works when taking a short position. For this example, that will mean selling short 1000 shares of company X. Risk is controlled when shares are only sold when the highest price (PH) goes higher than the highest price of the previous 15-minute period (PPH).

Look at the High column in the screen image below. You’ll notice that at $22.92, the PH is higher than the highest price of the previous 15-minute PPH ($22.90).

So if the short sale of shares were covered anywhere down to $22.73, they could be bought back in the current 15-minute period at any price down to the current Lowest (CL) price of 22.73 which is for the current 15-minute period Low.

If trades are executed online and the commission charges are $10 per transaction, the AMC (Amount Meeting Criteria) value shows a potential profit that can be as high as $170.

Referring to the screen image below, the formula used to calculate the potential outcome (profit or loss) for this trade is:

<col width="100" /> <col width="300" />

If PH > PPH, then

AMC = (PH-CL) * (number of shares) - (commissions paid), or

If $22.92 > $22.90, then

$170 = ($0.19 * 1000) – ($10 +$10), or

$170 = ($190) – ($20), or

$170 = $170

Click Here for field content descriptions of all columns in the Short Position section of the Show 15-Minute Metadata report.

<! hr size="1" width="100%" align="Center">

At first glance, the amounts seem in both example seem to be rather insignificant. But remember that each day usually has twenty-six 15-minute trading periods. So using this strategy on a block of one thousand shares can potentially generate thousands of dollars daily.

For proof, look at either the Show-15-Minute-Metadata report or the Show-15-Minute-Metadata Summary report for any of the stocks featured on this site. And I wanted to do so in an informed fashion. In order to move forward, I needed information on these stocks. Yes, standard data about stocks as well as the availability of stock charts were in ample supply.

But this wasn't enough. Especially since it was my money on the line. I needed more. To be more precise, I was looking for stock metadata. This is data about data on stocks.

Stock Metadata Examples

Times of the day (1st picture below) when stocks are statistically at their highest and lowest levels - helpful for selecting the right time to buy or sell shares

Table presentation (2nd picture below) showing various gaps in prices (high and low, open and close, open vs previous close, etc . . .) during the day over a period of time (one or more days, one of more weeks, one or more months, and so on - useful for spotting trends and trading patterns as well as estimating an acceptable gap value for a column

As illustrated above, statistically speaking the first 30 minutes of the day (from 9:30 to 9:59) was the time of day when the prices were at their highest for the day. And interesting enough, that same time of day was when prices were at their lowest.

When combined with other metadata indicators, you can have an idea if the time is right to buy or sell.

You can see from the picture above that for the High-Low gap for the last 16 days, the range is from $0.49 to $1.40. By looking at the stock's current high and low prices, and after combining this information with one or more of the other metadata indicators, you can tell if the time is right to execute your trade.

How This Blog Came About (cont'd)

I also wanted to be able to spot trends, trading patterns, and more. Stock metadata can be a useful tool for doing this. Charts seemed to offer lots of good stuff and that meant that I had to learn to interpret them. I discovered that I could use them and it would also take more time than I had available.

Of course I could always continue on my familiar route to investing and trading. This would mean following the opinions of market experts and market analysts. But I didn’t know if one existed who would always give me what I needed.

Furthermore, I wanted to be responsible for any of my successes or failures. It’s my money on the line.

So what I ended up doing was to go online and do some research. Hopefully I’d be able to find stock metadata.

Along the way, I identified the most popular stock and stock-market sites available. I also kept tract of related keywords as well as the most useful sites for these keywords. These were sites that were actually good sources of information. As I went along, I documented all sites I visited. I created a list of the best sites I came across and categorized them. But unfortunately, I never did find a site that could give me stock metadata.

So seeing that “Necessity is the mother of invention”, I developed a computerized application to create the stock metadata I wanted to see. And after going to all this effort, I decided to share all of my findings with people online.

To do so, I’ve created this blog. This is an extension to my website showing top stock market keywords with corresponding links to popular sites for the keywords. This site also includes pages whose focus is to present five (5) different stock metadata reports on a variety of featured companies.

Go to www.stock-market-keywords.com/bulls-with-bears.html to see stock metadata reports for companies that have been featured to-date. New metadata reports are created for a different company each day of the week, Monday to Friday. Full descriptions with explanations for each of the reports can also be found there.
